So here it is, my review of the year 2021. It’s been a strange one hasn’t it? Now here we are in December and hurtling full pelt towards Christmas.
Before we get all wrapped up (see what I did there?) in the festivities, I thought I would have a fun run through all the new friends I’ve made in the last 12 months and pick out some pretty, innovative or unusual sheds of the year in my own Posh Shed Awards ceremony!
Bespoke Posh Shed of the Year
This Shed really thinks they’re a greenhouse, and they may have a point! I said goodbye to my new friend in late summer having got to know them quite well.
I love the way this Shed is laid out so that their keen gardener owners can potter in the greenhouse and fetch bits and bobs from their Shed without having to go outside. Isn’t that just perfect for the colder weather!
And when they sent me photos of their new home, it immediately struck me how lucky they are to have such beautiful new surroundings.
It’s supposed to be a secret (but I’m useless at those). Just be sure to keep an eye out in 2022 for the pitter patter of exciting news!
Most Talked About Posh Shed of the Year
Posh Shed Location of the Year
The beautiful outlook for my friend, The Wimbledon Shed, took my breath away. I can only imagine the years of fun that my lucky shed friend will witness from such a location. Their owner decided on additional windows in each side to take full advantage of the view, I can fully understand why.
Enchanting Posh Shed of the Year
This award is for the Posh Shed that just made me go a little weak at the knees. My little bespoke Shed friend was a captivating companion and really proves that delightful things really can come in small packages as well!
I hear that they were a bought as a birthday present, how wonderful!
Their delighted owner describes them as a serene reading room and a perfect relaxation space away from the house. I bet it’s so lovely and quiet in there!
I had a lovely postcard from one of my Potting Shed friends back in July.
Just look at the new roof they’ve had! Apparently this matches the main house so my Potting Shed friend really does feel like one of the family now.
I was so pleased to see how they are settling in. I remember hearing lots of conversation about how heavy the roof would be. To make sure, there were extra supports put in the roof space to carry the weight.
The results were so stunning and unusual; I don’t think I have ever seen a thatched Posh Shed before so it was a no-brainer that it would feature in my Posh Shed Awards!
Customised Interior Shed of the Year
This is probably one of the most impressive customisations that I have ever seen. My friends The Ludlow and The Anderson had a huge transformation into a shower room and loo for a glamping site on the Welsh borders. I love the inventiveness of this customisation. It’s functional but at the same time so much fun, especially the sheer joyful use of colour!
Customised Shed Exterior of the Year
I had a lovely postcard from a Potting Shed friend in the south of England who had a new roof installed. And what a roof! I don’t think any of my friends have ever had such an extraordinary makeover!
Prettiest Shed of the Year
Posh Shed, Posh Shed against the wall, who’s the prettiest of them all? All my friends are beautiful but this bold Sadolin Wisteria Lilac Very Potting Shed was, in my opinion, the prettiest of the year. The colour, in contrast to the elegant lines of The Potting Shed is just a stunning combination and really brightened up the workshop. This Shed’s new owner wanted a solid stable door too and also added a bit of romance with a heart cut out in the top panel. Cute!
Please send in your Posh Shed Photos!
I hope that you have enjoyed my Posh Shed Awards for 2021. I do love all my Posh Shed friends but some write more often than others. Of course, I love to see how all my Posh Shed friends are settling into their surroundings. Each one is really special to me so I love to keep in touch with my old friends. I especially love to see pretty seasonal photos, pets with my Shed friends or just general news. It really keeps me going through the year.
Here’s to 2022!
