Floors - Dry from the Ground up
Your shed comes with a very solid floor.
The floor is made with 18mm weather-proof plywood (WBP). A coat of wood preservative on the top surface gives an extra layer of protection. This plywood is fitted to tanolised timber bearers and then a waterproof membrane is fitted between: This waterproof membrane also laps up around the edges where it is joined with the same membrane that is fitted within the walls.
Walls - Unique triple layer
The walls of a posh shed are, as we hope you would expect, not like normal shed walls. They are built using a unique triple wall construction developed by us and not available from any other shed manufacturer. The initial structure for the walls comes from a frame work, this is built using good quality redwood timber fully finished with rounded corners and a smooth surface. Redwood timber is used for its superior strength and quality of finish over the more often used white wood.
To this is fitted a 6mm WBP plywood skin to give a good finish in the inside and provide strength. On the outside is fitted cladding, again a redwood timber is used with a TGV joint. Between the two layers is fitted a fully waterproof and breathable membrane. Once the walls have been completed, they are fully treated with a timber protection in your choice of colour
Roof - Quality Roofing options
Each part of the shed is important, but obviously the roof initially takes the most weather. The Posh Shed Company roofs are solid and dependable as well as being attractive.
The main beams holding up the roof are either 75mm x 50mm or 100mm x 50mm depending on the size of the shed. The main roof panel is built using 12mm wbp plywood, this has soffit boards pre-fitted on either end to ensure a snug fit. The roof has a weatherproof membrane fitted and then a top layer of either felt shingles, cedar shingles or artificial slate, depending on your taste. Guttering is always recommended and can be fitted by us for an additional cost or by yourselves once we have left.
Felt shingles are a very attractive alternative to the standard type of mineral felt.
They are cut strips of mineral felt which when in situ give the impression of being tiles.
Wooden Cedar Shingles
The Cedar shingles are wooden tiles which when new are all the beautiful colours of yellow and red that come with natural cedar wood.
After a few months they will turn to a silver grey colour which whilst darker when wet, will stay for the decades that they provide a completely weather proof top to your Posh Shed.
Slate effect tiles
These are artificial slate tiles are composite tiles. They are the same tiles as used on houses and look like natural slate. They are a little more uniform than the natural alternative . Each tile is attached individually and will last for decades without maintenance
