TRaditional Posh sheds

Why is the word ‘Shed’ almost a term of disdain? A little over a decade ago we decided to do something about it. Our background is in making products in wood and designing them that little bit better. And true enough when we looked closer at the sheds you associate with the name we could see plenty to go at. By the time we lifted our virtual pen we had created a very different shed - not so much an evolution, more a seismic shift. These were what a shed should be, they were … Posh Sheds!

From our workshops in rural Herefordshire we have gained national recognition, for our innovative designs and the quality of our range. They are safe, durable and functional. Designed to look good for years. Part of the garden and no longer an eyesore.

We guess we should be flattered by those who now purport to also be ‘posh’. But we’d rather you come to the Original home of Posh Sheds, where no stone is left unturned and you can be confident that yours is a shed to enjoy, a shed to be truly proud of.

Floors - Dry from the Ground up

Floor

Your shed comes with a very solid floor.

Posh & Very Posh - The floor is made with 18mm weather-proof plywood (WBP).  A coat of wood preservative on the top surface gives an extra layer of protection. This plywood is fitted to tanolised timber bearers and then a waterproof membrane is fitted between: This waterproof membrane also laps up around the edges where it is joined with the same membrane that is fitted within the walls.

Comfortably Posh & Unbelievably Posh - The floor is made with 12mm weather-proof plywood (WBP).  This plywood is fitted to tanolised timber bearers and then a waterproof membrane is fitted between: This waterproof membrane also laps up around the edges where it is joined with the same membrane that is fitted within the walls. Insulation is put on top of the 12mm plywood and then another layer of 12 mm plywood is fitted over this.  A coat of wood preservative on the top surface gives an extra layer of protection.

Walls - Unique triple layer

The walls of a Posh & Very Posh Shed are, as we hope you would expect, not like normal shed walls. They are built using a unique triple wall construction developed by us, other shed manufacturers have copied this but we believe ours is the best.  The initial structure for the walls comes from a frame work, this is built using good quality redwood timber fully finished with rounded corners and a smooth surface. Redwood timber is used for its superior strength and quality of finish over the more often used white wood.

To this is fitted a 6mm WBP plywood skin to give a good finish in the inside and provide strength. On the outside is fitted pressure treated cladding, again a redwood timber is used with a TGV joint. Between the two layers is fitted a fully waterproof and breathable membrane.

The Very Posh build - Once the walls have been completed, they are fully treated with a timber protection in your choice of colour from our standard range.

Comfortably Posh & Unbelievably Posh - The walls are just like the Posh & Very Posh built with our unique triple wall construction, but with an added benefit of insulation.

The Unbelievably Posh  build - Once the walls have been completed, they are fully treated with a timber protection in your choice of colour from our standard range.

Roof - Quality Roofing options

Each part of the shed is important, but obviously the roof initially takes the most weather. The Posh Shed Company roofs are solid and dependable as well as being attractive.

The main beams holding up the roof are either 75mm x 50mm or 100mm x 50mm depending on the size of the shed. The main roof panel is built using 12mm wbp plywood.  The Comfortably Posh & Unbelievably Posh build have insulation boards and then a layer of 6mm plywood, this has soffit boards pre-fitted on either end to ensure a snug fit. The roof has a weatherproof membrane fitted and then a top layer of either felt shingles, cedar shingles or man-made slate*, depending on your taste.  Guttering is always recommended and can be fitted by us for an additional cost or by yourselves once we have left.

*Man-made slate is not available in all build options and all products.

Felt Shingles

Felt shingles

Felt shingles are a very attractive alternative to the standard type of mineral felt.

They are cut strips of mineral felt which when in situ give the impression of being tiles.

Wooden Cedar Shingles

Wooden Cedar Shingles

The Cedar shingles are wooden tiles which when new are all the beautiful colours of orange and red that come with natural cedar wood.

After a few months they will turn to a silver grey colour which whilst darker when wet, will stay for the decades that they provide a completely weather proof top to your garden Shed.  As cedar is a living wood the individual tiles will move and can give the apperance of warping, this is totally natural effect of the wood.

Man-Made Slate tiles

Slate Tiles

These are man-made slate composite tiles.  They are the same tiles as used on houses and look like natural slate.   They are a little more uniform than the natural alternative .  Each tile is attached individually and will last for decades without maintenance.
