There are sheds and then there are Posh sheds. And within the Posh sheds stable sits a selection of sheds so spectacular that you’ll never look at another shed the same way.

Over the next few months, we’ll be exploring the finer details of our Posh sheds, giving you the opportunity to appreciate the clever craftsmanship and thoughtful design features that make a Posh shed truly Posh.

First up is our masterpiece of Victorian-inspired design: The Gothic.

An elegant and timeless design

Gothic architecture is characterised by its sweeping arches, ornate decoration, elaborate stained glass windows and fiendish gargoyles. Dating back to the 12th Century, stunning examples of this unmistakable style can still be found across Europe today, from Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris to Westminster Abbey in London.

While the gothic aesthetic had fallen out of favour by the end of the 16th Century, a resurgence began in England during the reign of Queen Victoria. The hallmarks of this new Victorian Gothic style – finials, decorative patterns and lancet windows – were embraced by architects of the time and soon spread across the Western world.

Which brings us to the Gothic shed. While we can’t promise you gargoyles or stained glass, the Gothic takes inspiration from the virtuosos of the Victorian era to bring a little slice of architectural delight into your garden.

A Victorian-inspired façade

You can see the Victorian Gothic influences in every line of this stylish garden shed, working hand-in-hand with the traditionally high-quality Posh fixtures, fittings and features. The UV-efficient, double-glazed windows not only allow ample daylight to filter through into the shed’s interior, but their unique arched design is reminiscent of soaring lancet windows. They open fully, providing a breath of fresh air while you’re working, and the stylish metal handles add the sophisticated touch that’s so intrinsic to Posh sheds.

The undulating signature fascias frame the building and provide that decorative gothic flair. And the high-pitched roof, available with sleek composite slates or rich Canadian red cedar shingles, brings to mind church gables. If you opt to become Unbelievably Posh, the roof will be fully insulted too, keeping you toasty in the winter and cool in the summer for the best of both worlds.

A Posh shed at heart

Beneath the Gothic Victorian style are a host of features that will be rather familiar to any Posh shed fan. The sleek timber walls are utterly flawless, cleverly concealing nails and other fittings behind 14mm Scandinavian tongue and groove timber cladding. And that cladding comes with a choice of seven soothing shades in blue, grey, green and cream, a customisation that allows you to add a personal touch to your Posh shed.

Insulated tongue and groove flooring helps to keep the moisture out and the warmth in. A door floor plate protects the threshold from boots and wheels. Finally, the apex of the roof is home to a cheeky art deco finial with a metallic finish, bringing a splash of 1920’s glamour into our gothic lives.
