Winter maintenance for your Posh Shed
Our top tips to ensure that your shed stands the test of time, and survives whatever weather winter decides to throw at it.
Firstly, ensure that the air gap is maintained under the base and around all sides; check on an annual basis to make sure that there is not a build-up of debris growing around it. Open doors and windows whenever possible to keep an airflow going. If do you notice any small mould growths appearing on the inside of your shed, wipe down with a diluted bleach solution as soon as you can to prevent it from spreading. Also, a quick squirt of oil in the lock will mean that you won’t be struggling with a rusty lock when spring comes around.
If you notice the snow piling up on the roof of your shed, take a few minutes to clear it off with a broom or rake. Snow and ice can weigh down the roof of a shed causing problems over time. Remember, do some winter maintenance to avoid unpleasant surprises in the spring.
It is important that sheds are given a bit of TLC as winter arrives. All of our sheds are built to last but, being a wooden product in an English climate, there will be a little maintenance needed to ensure that your product remains in tip top condition. Provided this is the case, we would expect your shed to last for many, many years.
The paint that is used contains a wood preservative, this will need repainting every 2-4 years.

THE POSH SHED COMPANY PARTNER WITH ITV’S LOVE YOUR HOME & GARDEN
The Posh Shed Company has donated one of its bespoke Potting Sheds to a remarkable couple in the latest series of Love Your Home & Garden.
The television show, presented by Alan Titchmarsh, follows Alan and other gardeners as they visit locations all over the UK where they help deserving people to transform their gardens.
Measuring, 10ft deep by 8ft wide, The Potting Shed features in the garden of Richard and Ann, at their home in Upton, Chester. This admirable couple have given up vast amounts of their time over the years to helping others. Richard has been a volunteer with the Samaritans for 42 years and now volunteers at Samaritans’ Chester where he is also Branch Prison Support Officer and has been awarded the British Empire Medal for his services to the Samaritans.
Richard and Ann have also fostered more than 20 children over the last 10 years. They are also volunteers and puppy trainers for Guide Dogs for the Blind, so are incredibly deserving recipients of the Posh Shed in their newly renovated garden, which will provide a much-needed sanctuary for them.
It has been an honour to donate one of our bespoke pieces to such a lovely, charitable couple. The team on Love Your Home & Garden definitely did an amazing job with the garden and we hope that Richard and Ann love their new shed!
We have donated to this show multiple times and we think that it is a great idea to help give something back to those that have already contributed so much themselves. We hope to continue being involved with the show.
Tune in on 13th September 2017 to see the full transformation.

THE NEW TIN HAT SHEDS THAT ECHO WW2
The Posh Shed Company, creators of some of the finest hand-crafted sheds, are launching a completely new concept in garden storage to complement their classic Posh Shed collection.
The Tin Hat range is a throwback to war-time Britain when practicality usurped all else, and is designed to appeal to those seeking a traditional shed - solid, yet understated in appearance and built to a standard which will guarantee years of practical service.
There are two designs to choose from in the Tin Hat range. The curved roof of 'The Anderson' and the traditional lean-to, 'The Gardener'. Both are made of tanalised timber which ensure long term protection against the elements, the window frames and solid door are finished in a durable stain with sturdy bolt locks.
The pre-treated timber does not require painting; it lightens to a shade of honey brown and over time weathers to a natural silver. Perhaps the biggest feature of the range which heralds traditional is the galvanised corrugated sheet roof which is also finished with guttering.
The modular design allows customers to configure their shed to the size best suited to their needs and space. The Gardener has the modular option of additional windows and external shelving.

At The Posh Shed Company, we receive lots of enquiries from people who want to have electrical power in their sheds. This is not a service we offer so we always recommend that people get in touch with electricians and carpenters in their local area who are best placed to arrange this for them.
It can, however, often be an expensive and intrusive undertaking and neither is it the most ecologically friendly. We have been looking for an alternative to offer to our customers and we are pleased to introduce this solar hub from Solar technology. We can now offer to supply and install their Hubi 2k lighting and power system with any Posh Shed order.
The Hubi comes with a small solar panel, the main Hubi unit, 2 12v lights with mounting hooks and all connecting cables and can be fitted to any of our sheds. It works by collecting and storing daylight and sunlight and is great for providing electrical light and has two USB ports for mobile phones and other devices.
We are happy to fit a 2k Hubi unit while installing your Posh Shed. This would incur a cost of £195 and would include installing the panel, connecting the lights and Hubi unit as well as an internal shelf for the unit.
