It seems summer has been and gone in a flash again but it’s been great seeing all Posh Sheds getting out and about at the shows. More sheds than ever appeared at RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower show this year, seven of my fellow Posh Sheds were lucky enough to be featured alongside the amazing Summer Gardens feature. Looking fabulous of course but also providing secure storage space.
I’m personally looking forward to a quieter Autumn, watching the garden get tidied and I even get some TLC before storing away the table & chairs, tools & mower for another year. Leaves need to be swept away from my bottom and removed from my roof so I can keep everything nice & dry inside. A blast of air through my open window & door on a regular basis also does me good! With the addition of the very posh looking ‘Southwold’ to the range I’m definitely having to keep my standards up – there’s some pretty smart competition in The Posh Shed range now! The Southwold has even been nominated for a House Beautiful award in the Best Garden product category so I am keeping my fingers crossed for a prize on the night.

Happy Summertime everyone! Now I know us Brits do love to talk about the weather but how can I not with the glorious hot, sunny days we have had recently. I hope there wasn’t too many sunburnt noses but hope you all managed to get outdoors and enjoy the sunshine. I believe the sunshine even made it up to Northern Scotland so we all just about got that all important vitamin D dosage. All this sunshine does mean my owner has been kept busy watering the garden, it is looking fabulous now the plants are in flower showcasing an abundance of shape and colour. I’m sure some of you have been working hard in your gardens too and I’m sure they are all looking spectacular, do feel free to send me some pictures, I always love seeing new gardens!
Speaking of new gardens, I have just finished my tour of some of the shows all around the country, I’m sure I saw some of you there. From the Country Living fair to RHS Chelsea, RHS Hampton Court and RHS Tatton Park. I have certainly been kept busy but I loved it and I saw some beautiful gardens. I was even lucky enough to be part of many of the gardens at RHS Hampton Court which was an absolute pleasure and thank you to all who came and said hello.
Some other people who I have no doubt have also been very busy are all those athletes in training for the upcoming Olympics. I usually look after Mr and Mrs Gerrad’s lawn mower and gardening tools. They’re my owners and I am very proud to be able to keep their lawn mower safe and secure but I also have a hosting role for the upcoming Olympics. I’ve had some union jack bunting hung all around my walls and I’ve even been wired up so Mr Gerrad can plug in his flat screen and mini fridge to settle in and watch the games. I think they call it a ‘man cave’ these days but either way I’m looking forward to having a front row seat. After a victorious result at Wimbledon I’m particularly excited to see Andy Murray in action again. Good luck to all the athletes competing but a special good luck to Team GB.
I hope you all enjoy your summer and let’s hope the rain stays off to allow everyone some more time in their gardens.
Until next time

Those of you who follow us on Facebook may already have seen the first of our Summer Competitions. We’ve teamed up with three popular gardening magazines who are offering people the chance to win one of our new Southwold sheds.
We launched the Southwold at the Country Living Fair in March this year and we’ve had a great reaction to our beach hut inspired Posh Shed.
We featured four Southwold’s at the show in March and then took them to GROW in London in June. They are all finished in a colour from our standard paint range, Dusky rose, Pearl, Forget me not and Spearmint. The Dusky Rose finish has already been claimed but we thought we would give the others to some of our favourite garden magazines so they could offer them in competitions over the summer.
The Southwold competitions will feature in the August editions of the following magazines; Period Ideas, Waitrose Garden and Garden’s illustrated.
We look forward to hearing the results – good luck everyone

We were thrilled when we were approached by the television programme “Love your Garden” to design and build a Posh Shed for one of their viewers. This is the second time they have asked us to design something for them and it’s great to have a nod of approval from gardening guru Alan Titchmarsh.
The shed we designed for the programme this year (2016) was created for a worthy applicant. A lovely lady who has been passionate about gardens, gardening and “growing things” all her life.
Mrs Newbold was born in Leeds in 1926 and spent her early childhood helping her parents grow fruit and veg in their allotment. In the middle of the Second World war, at the age of 17 in 1942 she volunteered for the Women’s Land Army and was sent to Malton in Yorkshire where she got stuck into gardening on a much larger scale … nothing short of farming in fact, as she and others, heaved bales of hay, loaded carts and processed corn to name but a few of their responsibilities.
Gardening and growing things has always been a part of Mrs Newbold’s life and at the age of 90, she is still keen to share her gardening knowledge and regularly goes to schools and museums to talk to children about her history with the Women’s Land Army and the pleasure she has derived from gardening throughout her life.
Sadly, in recent years, age and arthritis have made it more difficult for Mrs Newbold to garden and witnessing the distress that this caused, a friend put her name forward to the “Love your Garden” programme. Her garden has now been revamped to create level pathways and low maintenance growing areas and includes a Posh Shed as a focal point and storage hub.
The Bespoke Posh Shed sits in a corner of the garden. It is painted in Posh Elephant which really sets off the slate effect tiled roof. There is double door access under a central gable which provides additional head-room and makes it easy to carry things in and out.
There are opening windows each side of the door to let in plenty of light and provide ventilation when required. The rear wall is window free so tall pieces of gardening equipment can be easily stored and plenty of floor space for all Mrs Newbold’s pots and tools.
We hope that this lovely lady enjoys her Posh Shed and her new garden for many years to come.

So it appears February has snuck up on us all already but very belated well wishings to you all for 2016 and it is well on its way now.
I hope that storm Imogen has left you all safe and well. Luckily my solid structure and waterproofing has left me fighting strong and everything being stored inside me safe and dry, but I do hope you’re all taking extra care outside in these gusty conditions!
Not that they are deterring some people from going outside, what with the six nations underway, I have seen a couple of rugby balls being kicked around next door. I of course am supporting England but there is some friendly rivalry with my shed friend down the road who is supporting Scotland. But I guess with his blue walls and white door and window he looks the part of a Scottish supporter without even needing to buy a scarf! With lots more rounds to play, good luck to them all.
So who’s giving up what for lent this year? Whilst tidying up her tools that I keep safe I did hear my owner talking about giving up chocolate, rather her than me I say! Don’t forget to make some yummy pancakes for Shrove Tuesday next week though, banana and Nutella or lemon and sugar is the big question?
With a very busy month ahead, I’m grateful we’re on a leap year, gives me an extra day to get things done. No doubt you are all very busy too but enjoy those pancakes and keep warm on these stormy days!
Will speak to you all again soon, and one more for thing, Happy Valentine’s day!
