Goodness me it’s been a busy year hasn’t it. I don’t know where the time goes these days.
There have been lots of new products launched by The Posh Shed Company. My owners bought a Posh Smoke House. It’s lovely to have company in the garden and it was really super to have news from home.
Old Smokey has been working overtime in the last couple of months and there’s no prizes for guessing what my owners will be giving everyone for Christmas this year and woe betide anyone who doesn’t like smoked cheese because there’s plenty of it to go around!!
Actually it’s been lots of fun to watch my owners experimenting with Old Smokey and there will be a sort of variety in the presents they give to friends and family.
They’ve made oak-y smoked cheese, apple-y smoked cheese, hickory smoked cheese, cherry smoked cheese and my personal favourite, whiskey smoked cheese!
My owners are hosting the family Christmas dinner and the starter is going to feature home smoked salmon… I’m just hoping they don’t experiment too much with that… I can’t imagine cherry smoked salmon would taste very nice ….
Take care everyone, hope you get lots of lovely presents and see you next year.

Autumn’s definitely here isn’t it? The mornings are mistier, the nights are drawing in and I’m being invaded by spiders that suddenly seem to appear every autumn.
Personally speaking, I welcome the arrival of autumn, I can’t wait for the clocks to go back. I applaud William Willet for his innovative thinking. I think it’s a disgrace that the German nation adopted his daylight saving idea before us Brits, but oh the peace and quiet it brings me. I expect I will see less and less of my owners as the dark evenings keep them inside and they only venture into the garden on rare days off and weekends.
The arrival of autumn and approach of winter can indeed be a difficult time for sheds, the leaves falling off from the trees tend to build up around us, i do hope my owner remembers to clear them away from us to stop us having a soggy bottom!

Cymry am byth
Wow, what an exciting weekend – have you recovered from the big rugby match on Saturday? I think my owners have just about got back to normal but they were somewhat sulky on Sunday I can tell you.
That’s the beauty of being a patio shed – one has a ring side seat for watching television; and luckily for me my owners are big Rugby fans and wouldn’t have missed Saturday’s match for the world.
I nearly switched allegiances to Japan after last weekend’s amazing upset but this weekend I was firmly supporting Wales; I was born very near the Welsh border you see, and I do like an element of competition so with my owners supporting England, I felt duty bound to support Wales and I’m so glad I did!
It was all going so well for England in the first half wasn’t it? I was almost wishing my owners would shut the curtains so I didn’t have to witness what I felt was definitely going to be a Welsh defeat but the tables turned in the second half didn’t they? Bois Bach they certainly did!! It was a thrill to watch.
I had to strain to hear the commentary over the moans and groans of my owners but you can never keep a good Welsh man (or woman!) down and despite all the injuries Wales triumphed ) I was firmly in support of Wales; I was born very near the Welsh border you see, and I do like an element of competition so with my owners supporting England, I felt duty bound to support Wales and I’m so glad I did!
Cymru am byth... till next time

She Sheds are the latest buzz word in the shed world but here at the Posh Shed Company we have been making sheds for women to use as their own private haven for many years; the majority of these commissions have come from women seeking work space outside the confines of the home, for whom it makes practical sense to turn their garden sheds into office or craft spaces.
These so called “she sheds” have elevated the humble garden shed to new heights in terms of both comfort and design .
A beautiful example of one of our sheds that was then decorated by its owner and turned into a “She Shed” won a bronze award at RHS Malvern this year.
“The Perfect Commute” designed by Deborah Bird of “Beholder’s Eye”, featured a 9 ft. x 7 ft. Posh Gothic Shed with slate effect roof that had been transformed into a home office and reflects the aspiration of many people to escape from the daily grind of commuting to the office.
She Sheds have however been around in all but name for a long time.
In I915 the first ever British Women’s Institute meeting was held in a garden shed in Anglesey; could that have been the first “she shed”?
A recent television programme by Lucy Worsley “Cake Bakers and Trouble Makers” did much to counter the image of the WI as outdated and its members as “busy bodies”. It reminded us that the origins of the WI were very closely linked to the suffragette movement and that the slow hand clapping of Tony Blair in 2000 was far from the first time the WI had refused to be patronised.
The WI’s ethos has always been about empowerment and equality; it’s been called the “first social network” because most of its early groups were established in rural communities where women were often lonely and isolated so it wouldn’t seem to far a leap to credit these ladies far-sighted and socially aware women with the invention of the she shed!
The WI centennial Fair is taking place in Harrogate from the 3rd to 6th of September. www.thewishow.com/NFWI

Oh Lordy –it’s the school holidays and my owners daughter has brought her twin boys to stay for a few days, I don’t mind, but one of them is a tear-away; always kicking a football up against me, I’m mean I’m sturdy enough to withstand it, of course I am, I’m made of slow grown redwood pine, my tight grain makes me the strongest shed on the block , but I’m just not meant to have a football kicked against me for hour after hour. It’s soooo demeaning.
It was drizzling this morning and there was no sign of the football (or the twins) so I was counting my blessings, until I saw the door open and heard my owner shout “Its only drizzle, I’m fed up of hearing your silly computer games, go out into the fresh air and play”
“Let’s play with the Shed” said John, and then my mood sank even lower as he said, “We could cover it in mud and pretend we are living in Africa”, oh Reader I was shaking on my scalpings …
“I don’t think Grandad would like us to cover the shed in mud” piped up James. “Why don’t we make a den inside the shed instead” …
“Gran has lots of blankets in the shed, we could hang them over stuff and make a brilliant den” said James, “and then we could ask Gran if we could have lunch in our den.”
“Yeah” said John , always swayed by mention of food.
For the next hour I was subjected to the most unmentionable indignities while the boys moved everything around, completely destroying my natural order and hung blankets from the bench at the far end to the wheelbarrow and lawn mower at the front.
It was quite an ordeal but I stayed strong ...and after all its not often the childen come to see me and its nice to have the company.
Will speak again soon

It was all go in the garden this weekend. My door and windows were open all day as my owner, Mrs O, wandered in and out and backwards and forwards between me, the greenhouse and the vegetable plot getting all her carefully tendered plants out into the lovely sunshine.
Mrs O was in her element, singing away and talking to herself, she is completely tone deaf but even so it was lovely to see her so happy and I’m even growing quite fond of that floppy summer hat of hers.
I, of course was a central part of the day’s proceedings. I keep everything so neat and tidy in my tool rack and on my shelves and I’m sure Mrs O’s singing increased in gusto every time she came in and found a trowel or ball of string exactly where she expected to find it.
I know she likes me so much more than that old greenhouse! I don’t know why they don’t pull the whole thing down so many of the panes are missing now and I’m the one that has to look at it all day every day.

There’s a new grandchild in the family this year so father’s day is even more exciting as my family’s son has become a father for the first time. There was talk of all sorts of ways to celebrate but a lovely barbeque lunch in the garden won the vote and obviously the best part of that is that I can be a part of the celebrations.
I can’t wait! The new baby is a little girl and I’m going to have pink bunting tied around the top of my veranda and pink balloons fixed to my balustrade rails and I just love pink! I’ve been entrusted with looking after the bunting and balloons and they are being safely stored on my shelving because no-one else can be trusted to remember where they’ve put them! It’s such a responsibility and of course the best bit is, did I mention, everything is pink!
I care for the barbeque and garden chairs all year round of course and these have been taken out and checked over. I must admit I did feel a little huffy about that; as if anything would come to harm under my watch; I mean seriously! My roof and walls were fully waterproofed when I was born! Still I decided to forgive Mrs O as she is just so excited about the baby and was quite funny to watch Mr O complaining about having to prepare things three weeks in advance. It’s a barbeque he said, not a military campaign! I had to laugh.
Mrs O didn’t listen, she’s very good at that and now everything is super clean and a few spiders that had actually been quite tiresome have scuttled off so we are all happy and looking forward to the big day.
Of course we are hoping for perfect weather; not too hot for baby and no rain but even if the weather is not quite perfect, I’ll be quite happy to shelter Mr and Mrs O and the new baby under my veranda roof. The rest of the family will have to make their own arrangements, just as long as they leave the bunting alone; it’s pink you know ….

Hello all you romantics out there. This is your month!
I hope you all have something wonderful planned for that special someone in your life and hopefully, perhaps more importantly, they have special plans for you. I still like all the traditional things flowers, chocolates, perfume, romantic meal for two but also love hearing about the more unusual things people consider as romantic. Although a bungee jump, parachute jump, hot air balloon ride would definitely not be for me, I like to keep my base firmly on solid ground! I will be sending cards to my Posh Friends, hoping they won’t guess it’s from me. I only hope I get some back and hope my owner gives me some TLC ready for the busy months ahead.
We have just finished our winter sale, so lots of new sheds being delivered and installed with new owners and will hopefully get to see lots of pictures of them in their new homes. I’m sure they will be very happy.
The weather is getting better, the days longer and lots of little jobs that can be done in the garden in preparation for the spring so I’m getting regular visits from my owner. I love the company and seeing what they are busy doing. It’s also great to see the early daffodils; they really brighten up the day.
Speak to you soon

Here we are in 2015. Happy New Year to you all and hope you all had a great Christmas .How are the resolutions going? Mine, to keep looking good, is going well so far thanks to my owners help.
Guttering is fitted to keep me damp free and the leaves have been swept away from my base
January is always a quiet month for me, I don't know anyone that likes January and there certainly isn't a lot to do in the garden. But if you were lucky enough to get one of my posh friends as a Christmas gift or indeed any gardening gift, now is a good time to tidy up and sort out.
I’m looking forward to another busy year. I’m sure there will be some new friends for me to introduce to you along the way and plenty for me to tell you about what my fellow Posh Sheds.
I don’t know if I will get there, but I know that some of my fellow Posh Sheds and Posh Gardening friends will be showing off at Grow London 18 - 21 June, RHS Hampton Court Palace 30th June - 5th July and RHS Tatton Park 22nd - 26th July. Put the dates in your diaries and come along and see us if you can.
Will be in touch.
